ABOUT THE CHEF
My name is Jessica! I am a wife and currently a stay at home mom of three but worked in commercial kitchens for 10+ years.
When I was younger I never knew that I wanted to make food for a living. If I’m being honest, the only reason I decided to start working in the BOH (‘back of house’ for all the non-food service people) was because I was told that I couldn’t handle it!
I’ve always struggled with finding things I’m REALLY good at. There are plenty of things I’m just ‘okay’ at but I never found that one thing that just clicked and came naturally to me. When I started cooking though, it just felt right. Throughout the years I honed and developed my skills to where I am confident and proud of my abilities.
I was very intimidated by the industry at first, especially being a woman in a (mostly) man’s world. I quickly realized that I could hang with the best of them and gave most of the men I worked with a run for their money. I felt an insatiable need to prove myself to everyone I worked for and with and I did just that with countless hours of hard work. I earned my spot in the quick-paced, cut throat, man dominant commercial kitchen world and it was an amazing feeling.
For me, food is personal. It’s my love language, so to speak. I always put time, care, and consideration into everything that I create. Whether it be for friends, family, or someone I hardly know. I feel that it brings people together and I really enjoy making people happy through anything that I cook. Food not only feeds the stomach, but feeds the soul as well.
